Birchwood Leisure Centre is managed by Active Nation in partnership and on behalf of the City Council. The leisure centre offers a wide range of facilities something for every age and ability. These facilities are available to members, sports clubs and to the general public.

Lincoln Indoor Bowls Club

The club runs many leagues and has members competing successfully at all levels from club to international. It is certainly the place to be if you enjoy competing but it also runs very friendly beginners lessons, coaching sessions and friendly leagues. Football Facilities

Football pitches

Once a pitch has been allocated, all regular home teams will become key holders to gain access to facilities at that site. This doesn’t include one off bookings, who will be provided with a caretaker.

Booking in advance must be made.

All our football pitches have changing facilities with showers, with the exception of King George’s Playing Field

All of our pitches are grass, we do not currently provide any other type of pitch.Teams wishing to use the adult pitches on a Sunday morning will be given availability only after the Lincoln Sunday League fixtures have been received and confirmed.

Any new teams wishing to join the Lincoln Sunday League must contact the League Secretary before approaching the City of Lincoln Council.

Football pitches are available to hire from the last week in August until the last week in April.

Skellingthorpe Road Recreation Ground, Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln, LN6 OHF

  • Showers and changing accommodation on site
  • Car parking on site
  • Three adult pitches, three junior pitches and one mini pitch.

Sudbrooke Drive Playing Fields, Sudbrooke Drive, Lincoln, LN2 2ES

  • Showers and changing accommodation at Sudbrooke Community Centre
  • Car parking at Sudbrooke Community Centre
  • Two adult pitches.

Moorland Backies, Moorland Avenue, Lincoln, LN6 7JJ

  • Changing accommodation and showers available on site 
  • Car parking available. One adult pitch. Junior pitches.

Badminton Facilities

Badminton courts

Once a court location has been chosen, all regular hirers will become key holders to gain access to facilities at that site.

Please be aware that:

  • Unfortunately we do not provide a badminton service for one off bookings
  • All bookings must be made in advance
  • Community centres with Badminton courts have toilets for changing, kitchen facilities for refreshments and refilling water bottles
  • All centres have posts and nets, you just need to bring your racket and shuttlecocks.

Cricket Pitch Facilities

Currently we only provide a cricket pitch at the West Common. The Pitch must be booked a minimum of three days in advance so a wicket can be marked out.

West Common Cricket Pitch

  • Changing accommodation available on site   
  • Car parking available at Grandstand Community Centre  ( 4 hour parking restriction in place)
  • Cricket pitches are available from May to September

Weekend Charges 

  • Adult: £41.50
  • Youth: £24.00

Weekday Charges 

  • Adult: £28.00
  • Youth: £20.00

Tennis Facilities

On the West Common we have six tennis courts. These are free for the public to use and you do not need to book the tennis courts. 

  • Hard courts are open 24/7 all year round.
  • Grass courts are open 24/7 from April to September. 

In Boultham Park we have three grass tennis courts. They are available for use from late May through to early September (dates and hours are advertised each year). When open they are free to use and you do not need to book.
